The original StarCraft is making a comeback, but this time around, it's going to look, sound and perform a heck of a lot better.
Blizzard just announced StarCraft: Remastered, a collection of the original StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War, for PC and Mac. Blizzard hasn't announced a price or a release date yet, but there is a pretty sweet new trailer that shows off what it'll look like.

Blizzard Entertainment When Blizzard released the original StarCraft, it was a one-company act (sort of). It made its own decisions regarding developing titles, but that isn't the case anymore. Starcraft – Original Game Starcraft is a science fiction based real time strategy game owned by Blizzard Entertainment. The game was released in the year 1998 after 3 years of planning. Starcraft is all about dominating 4 types of species somewhere in the milky way galaxy. StarCraft, along with its Brood War expansion, is renowned for its brilliant class balance and continued support even over 10 years after its original release. StarCraft Remastered is an upcoming version of the game which will feature upgraded visuals, audio, dialogue and is designed for 4K displays. StarCraft®: Remastered upgrades the essential sci-fi strategy experience from beginning to end. Welcome back to the original game and its award-winning expansion, StarCraft: Brood War. We've remastered our units, buildings, and environments, improved game audio, and broadened our supported resolutions.
In celebration of the remaster, the original StarCraft — pixels and all — will be free to download from Blizzard's site sometime later in the week.

Starcraft 3 Release Date Blizzard
Here's the full announcement trailer that illustrates what StarCraft Remastered looks like with the jump to 4K resolution and support for widescreen displays. It looks like Blizzard is trying to preserve the original colors and art direction, but just clean everything up a bit and bring it up to snuff.
